An Italian designed tank destroyer produced shortly before the Italian Armistice. The vehicle combined a widened version of the latest M15/42 tank with the hitting power of a 105mm anti-tank gun.
Thirty entered service before the Italian surrender, after which German forces in Italy continued production for their own purposes. These vehicles were designated 'Sturmgeschütz M43 mit 105/25 853(i)' a fair stand-in for the German StuG
